Session 1 : Rahmat

The Case :


Rahmat is a second semester students at UniKL IPROM who is struggling to pass his courses. He has not been able to get good grades for subjects that require him to read and understand concepts related to his programme. He is also failed to write good quality assignments as his lecturers said his ideas are not well presented.


Rahmat has been studying very hard but the semester result makes him very frustrated. He thinks that he is very good at his hands-on skill because he is able to read or write well.


Questions




  1. Is Rahmat's opinions correct? If yes to what extent is he correct; if no what does he need to do?
  2. Is there anything that Rahmat might have left out during his study?
  3. Discuss the issue within your group and then present your suggestion on what/how Rahmat should do to improve his grades.

Facts are given in the case;



-2nd semester student at UniKL IPROM.

-Low grades in writing examinations.

-Have good skills in hands on projects / activities.

-He had study very hard yet still his gets frustrated with his result.

-assume that he just have to be good in hands on skill then writhing skills subject is okay.

-he can produce something with his hands on skill.





Our view toward the facts given;

  • Rahmat is a student from UniKL IPROM. A qualified student in the University.
  • He is not doing well in writing examination due to lack of reversion.
  • He have skills on practical job. Subject that related to hands on skill. He have some talent.
  • He choose a solution to get good grades in writing skill by study very hard.
  • He give up and assuming negatively that he don't have to study writing subject because he already have good hands on skill.
  • With his talent, he can do more than he never expected.



What are the important issues to be learnt?

  • Believe n ourselves that when we are already a student in any institution, there must be a reason that we are qualified to be better.
  • Lack of study causes low grades in examination.
  • Use our talent as an opportunity to learn more than what we have already have.
  • Do not study hardly, but smartly. Study hardly causes stress that can bring to physical illness and low on self esteem that brings to negatively situation.
  • Do not assume that we need only one skills because the other skills we can't make it happen.




Identify resources/strategies/activities that could help solve the issue;

  • Use opportunity. When we are at campus, meet lectures, excellent student or the library to gain skill and tips for study.
  • Practice, practice & practice. Ask tips and tricks to excel in studies.
  • Seek ways to identify own unique way to understand all subject in writing nor reading.
  • Use E-Learning as a sources of learning for notes and question on related subject.
  • Do past year exam paper to get use to the exam format and questions.
  • Involve in clubs or society that involves education.
  • Involve in public speaking and subject event held by campus.
  • Study smartly, by arranging time and notes.
  • Use mind mapping to notes.
  • Use hands on skills and apply the knowledge to the reading subject.
  • Ask, ask and ask whenever you don't understand.
